Over 40 Years of IP Commercialization, for Universities, Corporations, R&D Teams and Independent Inventors.

Meet Daniel:

Daniel O’Connor has spent more than 40 years helping inventors, founders, R&D teams, and organisations turn intellectual property into commercial opportunity.

Known by many as “The IP Whisperer for Inventors,” Daniel works with people who have promising ideas, inventions, technologies, or hidden IP assets — but are not yet sure how to turn them into funding, licensing income, distribution partnerships, trade-sale value, or commercial momentum.

His work is practical, commercial, and outcome-focused. Rather than starting with the usual advice to “build the product,” “raise capital,” or “get a patent,” Daniel helps inventors step back and answer the questions that matter most to the market:

  • Who needs this innovation?
  • How does it make or save money?
  • Who already has the customers, channels, manufacturing capacity, credibility, or market access needed to help this succeed?
  • And what kind of deal could move the project forward without the inventor carrying the entire burden alone?

Over his career, Daniel has worked across thousands of IP and innovation projects, helping clients clarify their commercial models, identify strategic partners, prepare funding and licensing proposals, structure pitch decks, and build the confidence to approach the right people with the right offer.

He is the founder of The Inventors Academy, where he teaches and coaches inventors through a structured commercialisation process designed to move projects from post-idea uncertainty to early-stage commercial transactions. These may include licensing agreements, distribution partnerships, cornerstone investor arrangements, pilot programs, joint ventures, or trade-sale opportunities.

Daniel’s approach is built on one central belief: the market does not reward invention alone. It rewards momentum, clarity, reduced risk, and commercial leverage.

That is why his work focuses on helping inventors build more than a product. He helps them build a commercial opportunity that others can understand, value, and act on.

For independent inventors, Daniel provides the structure and guidance to avoid wasted years, unnecessary spending, and poorly targeted approaches. For R&D teams and organisations, he helps identify, assess, and document IP opportunities that may otherwise remain hidden, underused, or commercially unprotected.

If you have an invention, technology, process, product concept, or untapped IP asset, Daniel can help you assess where the real commercial value may sit — and what practical steps are needed to turn that value into momentum.
