Why Won’t People Invest?
If you keep finding prospective investors and they keep turning you down, it can be frustrating. It is far more frustrating when you get to 100 refusals and the experienced inventors tell you to “keep going – your turn will come.”
What if it doesn’t?
What if you are pitching the right thing to the wrong people or the wrong thing to the right people?
How will you ever find out if the right people don’t or can’t tell you?
I can explain exactly why early-stage innovation does not attract funding pre-cashflow and why offering a return on investment as your primary pitch will not enthuse the most suitable prospects to invest.
Would you like to change your odds? Would you like to get some success in pitching within 4 pitches or less? There are a number of critical mistakes most inventors make, which eventually trap them in the “hunting and begging” cycle we all hate. If you don’t change the way you do this, you will find your funding process will become more than 50% of your activity and eventually you will have no time for developing and commercializing your innovation.
There is a process that can change that.
The Cornerstone Investor model changes some fundamental thinking on the way innovation is funded. These include:
The WHO – We suggest high-net-worth investors are not going to commit to you.
The HOW – We know they want to provide much of what is needed in services, access, and resources that you otherwise would be spending that investment money on,
The WHEN – Rarely does a project need the lump sum of investment on the first day. If this is spaced out over an agreed period, it becomes far more affordable,
The WHY – The right investor isn’t there for ROI. They want to partner with you because they are established in your industry or market, and they have complementary products/services and may have established channels to distribute what you build.
The WHERE – If your prospective cornerstone investor is well-established in a local market, they may have contacts who could license and/or distribute in other geographic or demographic markets. This connection can generate immediate revenue which reduces the risk for the project, as well as for their investment.
